Vacation Bible Scool, Trip #1 and Trip #2

The past few weeks have been packed full!  I started my summer with a week of Vacation Bible School with a church in Grand Marais.  It was really different from what I am used to, but a lot of fun.  The kids were full of energy!

My first canoe trip of the summer with campers was full of rain and cold and wind, but I never heard a complaint from anyone's mouth.  It was a wodnerful group from St. Paul and even with the crappy condidtions we had a wonderful trip!  We started off going north through Sagnaga, and then head south and west through the Ottertrack and Ameober, then through South Arm Knife, Eddie, Jennie, Annie, Ogish, and back into Seagull.  The group was really strong and all really loved the area. 

My most recent canoe trip took a special route along the border of Minnesota and Canada, doing the border route that was once taken by French Canadian fur traders.  We traveled the border from Saganaga all the way into Lake superior.  It was a 6 night trip that ended with the Grand Portage (an 8.5 mile path between the Pigeon River and Lake superior, built to avois massive rapids in the river.)  There had been some prety heavy rain and wind during the week, so the Grand Portage greeted us with GIANT fallen trees that made parts of the trail almost inpassible- creating quite a challenge to get through with a canoe!  There was a lot of crawling through and over and under branches. Along with the tress mud was in full force trying to grab our shoes as we went along.  As a canoe guide, I had a ton of fun with the the challenge, but It was les then thrilling for the campers.  Overall the week was tremoundous.  It was an awesome awesome group of people that really came together, and we had a ton of fun together.
